The grill table has been enjoyed in Japan for centuries. Our own inspiration to revive this age-old style of dining came from a family trip taken almost 50 years ago.

The Shinwa is 41 inches square and stands 28 inches high.
How big is the grilling surface? Answer
The cooking surface is 15 1/2 inches square.
What is the grill made of? Answer
The grilling surface is cast iron with a rugged metal frame and stainless steel charcoal box.
What is the table made of? Answer
The table is made of sealed bamboo.
Does The Shinwa come in different sizes? Answer
Currently the Shinwa comes in one size.
How many people can sit around the grill? Answer
Four to six people can sit comfortable around the grill. Custom chairs and a side table are also available (see Products Section
What can I cook on the grill? Answer
The traditional Shinwa experience centers on cooking smaller pieces of meats and vegetables to share. But you can grill just about anything on The Shinwa that you would cook on an ordinary grill.

How do I assemble The Shinwa? Answer
It is easy to assemble and can be done without any tools. Assembly typically takes about 20 minutes to assemble. (See full assembly information under Instructions
Is it portable? Answer
The fully assembled Shinwa weighs about 140 pounds so it is not portable. However, it is easy to assemble and disassemble so it can be moved quickly and easily.

How do I store The Shinwa? Answer
The Shinwa is made of quality materials and is very durable and weatherproof so it can remain outdoors year-round. A cover for The Shinwa is recommended and is available separately (see Products Section
Can The Shinwa remain outdoors year-round? Answer
The Shinwa is made of quality materials and is very durable so it can remain outdoors year-round but the cast iron in particular should be protected. A cover for The Shinwa is available separately (see Products Section
). We recommend storing the unit inside during winter-like climates.
Will the grill and/or the legs rust? Answer
The legs have a protective coating and will not rust but the cast iron does require special care and needs to protected (see Cast Iron Care
How do I clean the grill after each use? Answer
The grill should be cleaned after each use with a soft cloth followed by oil. (See full cleaning instructions in Assembly and Maintenance

Does the grill come out so I can discard the charcoal? Answer
The box that contains the charcoal does lift out easily to empty the charcoal.
Do I need to clean and protect the table after each use? Answer
As you would any wood surface, without heavy abrasives.
